The internet has changed the world forever and continues to do so. It is no surprise the role that the World Wide Web has in the world today. One of the biggest ways the web has changed the world is by making mass communication much more convenient than ever before. Blogging has had a big effect on how people communicate with one another about their opinions. Not only has blogging allowed people to share their thoughts and opinions is allows people to connect with one another easier.
The reason I enjoyed blogging this semester is because I got to share my own opinion. It allowed me to take time out of my week and look at the news learn more about what was going on and then share my opinion. It wasn't even about having the blog post, it was more about informing myself so if the topic or issue got brought up I knew what was happening and could speak on it. Blogging this semester gave a little purpose to looking at the news daily. Many times I will just be looking at the news and reading then all the sudden realize it's putting me in a bad mood for no reason.
Overall, this semesters blogging has been a fun experience. For a class assignment and to get graded on something that you enjoy is a refresher. The only advice I would give to students in the future is to actually do it because it's important to know what is going on in the world. Doing a blog the news, that nobody will read besides the professor, is a helpful way to start getting engaged into what is going on in the world.

Propaganda
This was one of the most interesting topics presented I think because of how deceiving propaganda can be. It's all about misleading people in order to push a political view. To think a political party could lie to thousands or even millions of people is crazy to me. The amount of effort and time that has to go into telling a lie to that meaning people is amazing. It also can show how deep or corrupt something truly is.
The media can spread propaganda throughout the country to control people see and believe. A lot of people hear what is on the media and believe what they hear. Not only could the media be lying but the information released to them could also be a lie. The idea propaganda is very interesting because you never really know if it's propaganda until it's exposed.
During the presentation of group 1 they talked about how propaganda has been used for years to push certain political parties. Samsung New Phone Delayed
The biggest Galaxy yet has a 7.3 inch screen when folded open. The phone was set to be released this Friday, but is now delayed due to feedback. The issues came with the most appealing feature the 7.3 inch screen. The screen has been known to break when folded open recent reviewers said.
Samsung release the following statement saying, need further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience. To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided top delay the release of the Galaxy fold. We plan to announce the release date in coming weeks." Not only will this hurt Samsung as a company, but the phones reputation will never be able to recover.
Going forward the Samsung will be reviewing why this is happening to the phone during shipment. Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality is hot debate around the country. Net Neutrality is what keeps the internet free and open to everybody. The result of it is keeping private companies from regulating what is heard or seen on the internet.
The only problem is Net Neutrality isn't exactly a thing as of June 11, 2018. The FCC repealed Net Neutrality stopping its existence after being passed in 2015.
The debate is all about having regulations on private companies or not. As we all know the traditional beliefs of the democrats is a larger government with more regulations on private businesses, while republicans traditionally believe in less regulations for private companies. Net Neutrality puts restrictions on what Internet Service Providers can do with their services. It prohibits them from being able to profile people, basically. The big issue at hand with Net Neutrality is that it prevents this companies from blocking peoples access to the internet. The argument the companies have against this is that those regulations don't need to be in place because there is no real danger of banning someone individual from accessing the internet.
A compromise is in need. Net Neutrality is a good thing when it comes to not letting the Internet Service Providers regulate what people can and can not see on the internet. It also takes too much control on these providers by not allowing them to charge extra to those who use the most bandwidth. A easy middle ground would not be hard to find if both parties could come along and agree on a simple compromise.

My Digital Footwork
My digital footprint is pretty big because of the spotlight my family has been put in. In the sports world of basketball my dad has a name. As for myself I am his son playing basketball at a division 1 school so I have also been a name searched. Searching my name just by itself I pop up with a little bio and a few websites. If I were to put my name and basketball following it a bunch of pictures pop up followed by articles written.
Non of my digital footprint is online because of what I have put out there. Most of what is out there about is found out through them searching my dad, my high school, and even High Point University.
To go in deeper on this topic of privacy, I want to say what is the big deal? Many of peoples lives are put out there on social media because of there on their own. All these people want attention and put themselves put there and acted shocked when something bad happens.
Another issue I have was with the 14 year old writing about how she stopped using social media. She was embarrassed by what her mom and sister had posted about her. Of course she is, she is 14 years old! She doesn't understand how insignificant an embarrassing picture on Facebook or wherever is. I have seen people rip my dad apart on the internet and even my mom for nothing other than not fulfilling expectations. As a family we laugh about what those people say bad about them or us because it doesn't matter. For some reason that 14 year old girl's article hit my nerves. She felt "betrayed' because her MOM posted "embarrassing" pictures of her when she was younger. Betrayed is when your spouse cheats on you or someone does something earth shattering behind your back, not your mom posting embarrassing childhood photos of you. Im sorry, but there are people being drug through the mud on social media a lot harder than she was or will be.
The last thing I have to say is, if you don't want everyone to know then don't post it. If you only want your friends to see something that's fine, but don't acted shocked when the world get ahold of it. Use social media responsibility getting attention for a certain amount of time is not worth ruining your whole life.

Iphone
The iPhone has been out since 2007 and has forever changed society. When Apple released the iPhone they created a new meaning to a smartphone. My first phone was a call the juke. It severed as a music player and also a phone when twisted open. It didn't take more than three years until the juke was upgraded for the iPhone 4 sometime in 2010.
Although I was not a pioneer of the iPhone I did not hesitate to become an early adapter. Many kids my age and younger were early adapters and the early majority as users of the iPhone. The late adapters consisted of people around my parents age, which would have been in their 40's at the time the iPhone was released. There are a good amount of people out that favor the iPhone over any other smartphone, but it is better plain and simple. I know many people that are laggards as far as getting an iPhone and one of them is my 85 year old grandpa. So, basically if you don't have an iPhone yet you are just like my grandpa.
There are people everywhere that have iPhone's. No matter where you go in the world there will always be someone with an iPhone. That is just the day and age of how popular and useful these phones are to people. Because of the phone being so valuable the early adapters, the majority, and late adapters will always continue to keep the saturation percentage high.

Protect Dissent
Out of the Eight Values of Free Expression we decided as partners that Protecting Dissent is the most important one. The protection of dissent is the protecting the right people have to disagree with the government and not be punished. We found that there are a couple of reasons this value of expression is above the others.
To start this value ranks at the top of the list because without criticism there would never be progress. This is not only in government but also a life lesson, nothing grows unless you have somewhere to go. Without other ideas and criticism of the ideas in place there would be no growth. The concept of criticism being beneficial is called constructive criticism and without it many people would stay the same year after year.
Secondly, the First Amendment protects our right to call out the government when they are in the wrong. The people in government are there elected by the people, therefore, representing them. Because they are representing the people this gives the citizens the right to say if the government officials are doing the right things or not.

Pro Trump Arizona Students Punished
Arizona republicans are seeking out the Attorney General to investigate students that were punished for wearing MAGA clothes. A letter was written to the AG asking asking him to look into if the faculty at this school violated the students first amendment rights. It is said that the faculty at the high school ordered the students to remove their pro Trump attire during a "party in the USA" theme day. The school has released a statement saying that the students were not asked to remove the attire for political reasons but for safety reasons.
My opinion of this situation is Arizona is that it is ridiculous. It amazes me that the school is saying that the people wearing the MAGA apparel are causing safety concerns and not the people that aren't. If what someone is wearing is causing others to feel some type of way that person just needs to simply grow up and mind their own business. This drives me crazy that people are that soft. It all starts with just minding your own business and stop worrying so much about what others are doing.
The AG office has released a statement saying that they are looking into it but do not know enough information about it to comment right now. If the AG is smart or isn't a soft person he would say that their first amendment was violated plain and simple.

Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land. The highest level of the Judicial branch the Supreme Court is an important part of the check and balances system. The Supreme Court is responsible for making sure both the Legislative branch and Executive branch are not violating the constitution.
The Supreme Court consist of nine member that are all appointed by the acting president. Once appointed by the president the candidate then has to be voted in by Congress. All justices remain on the Supreme Court until they decide to stop serving. The Supreme Court only hear around 100 cases a year out of thousands that are sent to them. Many cases are sent back down for the lower courts to handle.
The Supreme Court will make their decision and they will release the reasoning for how both sides of the justices voted. The Supreme Court has never been perfect and never will be. This is simply because nine humans are in control to uphold our constitution to their best possible ability and knowledge.

The Cross in Road
This article is about the separation of church and state. Honestly, this case is ridiculous and I cant believe it is a case. The American Humanist Association has brought up a case saying that a cross that sits in the median of a highway is unconstitutional. The American Legion is arguing saying that the cross was put up after World War 1 by the mothers of this towns falling soldiers.
The cross was put up almost 100 years ago in Bladensburg, Md. The mothers of the fallen soldiers were putting it up until they ran out of funds. This is when a local parks commission took over the project and finished the 40 feet cross.
The case brought to the court is asking for the cross to be moved to private property. The American Legion representatives are saying that it is not a religion symbol and was put up as a memorial for the fallen soldiers. On the other had the American Humanist Association says that the cross is simply always a symbol for Christianity, although the cross has nothing religious on it.
Here is my point on this whole thing. Why does a cross on the side of the road bother someone so much? This group is going to go through all this trouble just to remove the cross from the side of the road and put it one someones private property. This cross is just there, you literally see it for the seconds you drive by and it's not making anyone mad. But this group is going to go out of the way and make all these people mad just to get it moved. People like this need thicker skin and they are soft, plain and simple.

Michelle Carter to prison
Michelle Carter is now five years older than she was the last time the public heard her name. When Michelle was 17 years old when she sent her boyfriend, Conrad Roy, text messages encouraging him to commit suicide. Conrad Roy was 18 years old when he tried to kill himself multiple times before he finally took his own life in July of 2014.
Michelle Carter was accused of involuntary manslaughter for persuading Conrad to take his own life. Carter was sentenced to 15 months in prison in 2017 but remained free throughout her appeal process. The appeals court upheld the sentence and Carter started his time in prison. The lawyers for Carter plan to appeal the sentencing to the Supreme Court.

State of the Union Recap
President Trump gave his second State of the Union address on the 5th of February. He hit a multiple topics that are in the news everyday including border security, the government shutdown, the economy, and some of this accomplishments. At one point in the speech President Trump had both democrats and republicans standing and clapping cheer "USA" over and over again. The cheers came after President Trump stated that in the 2018 elections there were a record number of women voted into congress. This was an unfamiliar scene throughout the night.
During most of the speech the republicans were doing most of the standings for the President. Democrats were not big fans of when President Trump would talk about the border wall. Many of the Republicans were applauding and standing repeatedly for the President when he talked about illegal immigrants. There were no surprises on where the President was receiving his support from all night. One thing that stood out to me was reaction when abortion was talked about. President Trump called for the end of the late term abortions and most of the democrats showed little to no reaction. Late term abortion means killing the baby in the third trimester where it is almost fully developed and they remanded seated, it blew my mind.
Nonetheless the State of the Union address was a good speech. President Trump didn't say anything unexpected or outlandish that look away from the speech. This made the speech likable by both political parties and an overall success for the President.

Top 5 Top 5 Top 5 In Order
Instagram
What Instagram? Yes, Instagram! I get majority of my news from the "gram" because I get to pick and choose what accounts to follow. Most of the accounts I follow are personal accounts that report the news off of the major news outlets. I like this better than following the major news outlets because the personal accounts report the new from multiple big news outlets. This allows the followers of these accounts to see both sides or more than one side being reported.
Twitter
Twitter is the second place I go to get my news because all of the big news outlets are always posting on twitter. It is the fastest and most accessible way to get news daily. Not only is twitter good for seeing the larger news outlets but you can also get news from outlets that aren't as well known. It is also good for non-political news.
CNN
CNN is probably the most reported news outlet from the accounts I follow on Instagram and twitter. I have been to the CNN website a few times and liked their setup because it is easy to use. I also like CNN because it will have other news up right next to the political news.
Foxnews
Another perspective never hurts! If I go to CNN to get some news I have to see what Foxnews said about the same issue. Fox loves their politics and their website expresses that as the political news will come before everything else. I enjoy Fox because it is the outlier in the news world.
Snapchat
Believe it or not snapchat does have the news on it. I like using snapchat because you get a little visual with the reporting of the news. It gives a quick snapshot of what is going on in the world and what is being said about the issue all in about 20 seconds. It is very easy and quick requiring little to no effort at all.
